Here's Andrew Farrell from Scotland, first to our inbox with some great memories of the Oberland.
Thanks Andrew!!! The photo to the right is Andrew at over 3500 metres up at Jungfraujoch. The views from here are usually
jaw-dropping with vistas right down the stunning Aletsch Glacier. Mind you you need a good day! Poor old Andrew, he says he
couldn't see more than a few feet in front of him!
Amazingly, Andrew turns out to have been in the massive marquee of the Trucker and Country Festival at the
same time as Liz, Catherine and myself! Unlike me, Andrew decided not to attempt the rather large beer queue, but it was good
stuff Andrew!! While I was queuing, Andrew was snapping, and caught this shot of British country singer Rachael Warwick !
We wonder if Andrew is followed around by perculiar weather as on his trip to Luzern, he was more
than a little dampened by what he describes as 'an awful thunderstorm'. However it shows how the weather can change
in the mountains, on the way he stopped off at Lungern to take this great shot.
Lungern, not strictly in the Oberland, being in the Canton Obwalden ( I think it’s classed as a half canton?),
but we’ll let you off Andrew! It’s a beautiful place, on the Brunig rail line from Interlaken, Brienz and Meiringen to Lucerne. At Lungern you can find upwards of
a hundred butterfly varieties above the town, and the hay meadows blessed with over 70 different wild flowers! As Mike says
though ‘just don’t forget to come back to the Oberland!’
Right is beautiful Spiez is a photo for every collection. We've got one of our
own on the photo page, but, right, here's Andrews view, from the castle I think!
