Long time friends of Infotourist, Douglas and Janet live in Exeter Devon in the UK.
It's great to put faces to the names, and Doug has also given us the chance to reminisce at the old days of Radio
Beo with some photos of Mike looking busy, taken by Doug and Janet when they visited the old studios back in July 1999.
Hey Doug's a man 'after my own heart' having his photo taken along side Beo bird ! Almost as big as the one on my shed
wall!
Below Mike, Rosemarie and Doug
Radio Beo could have owned
one they were only a quid... the aeroplane not Doug! And the logo would have looked better than British Airways!
At last a picture of Pat and Mick.. great to see you guys! Oh and you of course Doug... where's the wine though?! Catherine
is a little distracted!
Taken in July 2000, Doug and Janet visited Zermatt. Doug tells me 'I had planned holiday to Zermatt
after buying the book 'As Old As The Century' written by Heidi Lanz & Liliane De Meester (translated into English by Richard
& Regine Davy). A great story about the famous mountain guide from Zermatt...Ulrich Inderbinen. I took the book
with me to Zermatt and appreciated meeting Ulrich (age 99y 7m then) in Capricorn Gallery where he signed my book and I was
able to take a photo'.
Doug saw him again on 15 July 2000 in the main street and Janet was able to take a photo of us both together.
Sadly, Ulrich died on 14 June 2004 age 103 years. A great mountaineer...a great Swiss....loved by many around the world.
I shall always remember my visit to Zermatt' Thanks for the great story Doug and for the picture of Pat and Mick ( I hope you can afford the legal bills Doug!!!)
Cheers Douglas!!! Thanks for the photos Janet!! Wonderful memories!!
